russians arent well known in jazz
funny story, so im in jazz band today, and we get a new song passed out, it was a louis bellson chart, now most jazz pieces are two-three pages long, oh no, this was a full six pages, ludicrous, and due to its length, i make the comment, tolstoy mustve written this chart, and no one in there knew what i was talking about, no one knoew tolstoy, or war and peace, oh well, thats all, i at least thought my joke was funny

    Ok, here goes

so this accounts my lastest world-hoppings:

Friday-class, breakfast, leave Cookeville late, drive to the Nashville airport (BNA), check in with the new self check-in e-tickets, very nice, go thruy security, no prob, im no terrorist, though i did have a pair of nail clippers in my bag, but i didnt get stopped, TSA you make me laugh, get on the plane, a tiny little American Eagle plane (one row of two seats, one row of single seats) i sit in the very back by the engine, next to a very large man with tattoos who served in Iraq, the trip is nice, i mostly read some of kerouac's OPn The Road, on my descent i see the sears tower and the chicago skyline, see, ive never been to chicago, then all of the sudden, BOOM! sears tower, hancock tower, its the opening of family matters in real life (yes, i know my tv), we touch down, and i get off, im now at Chicago O'Hare Intl. Airport (ORD), i go to my next gate, grab a sandwich, then pop into the airport bar (a mini-chili's) to catch the memphis-oral roberts game, a bunch of other memphians are in there so we have a grand ole time as memphis takes care of business, finally, its time for me to board the plane to madison, i get on, i sit in a single seat, its nice, i look out the window as america sparawls out under me, i watch the shadows of the clouds from above the clouds and the rays of the sun cover the land, its beautiful, after about 15-20 minutes, we touch down at the Madison airport (MSN), i get my tail off and run to a taxi, get to the camp site and hang with david, we chill, camp starts, we march, alot, it was ok though, we got our new horns, all yamahas, very pretty but sharp horns, we work and work and finally we get to go to bed, on a gym floor

Saturday: woke up, went to the University of Wisconsin and their indoor football field to learn drill, it was suh-weet, met our drillwriter, Monty Rosander, drillwriter for Santa Clara Vanguard from 1987-2005 (yes, he wrote the drill for the phantom of the opera show), we learn drill, its mostly alot of me jazz running at 200, fuuun, did that till 5, came back tomadison east high school, worked music, went to sleep

Sunday: woke up, did music, went and performed for the board of directors, wrapped up camp, went back to MSN, bought some wisconsin cheese for a snack, its good, watched memphis whoop up on bucknell and north carolina take it from George Mason U (the college where walter williams teaches), got on the plane, had the same stewardess i had from BNA to ORD, she wasnt very pretty, the other ones i had were, they were young and hot, she was old and leather skinned from the tanning bed, but she smiled alot, and was friendly, got to ORd, chilled, read, got on the plane to BNa, this stewardess looked like kelly clarkson, i naturally would've laid on the charm if she didnt have a job to do, what with manning the plane and whatnot, looked for the nashville skyline, however its not as tall as chicagos, so i almost missed it, touched down at BNA, got my car, and came back to tech, im back now, camp was excellent, and thats all i got, hope all else is well, lata

    ok, ill do one too:

    spring break
so, im back from spring break, it was pretty stinking sweet, i ate Gus's fried chicken twice! i also went to the C-USA championship that memphis won, very exciting, i watched harold and maude, which besides the old lady sex was a very good movie, and i sat on rocks in the middle of the mississippi river in the middle of the night.

The highlight of the week, though, was a fantastic adventure i undertook with nick, the inverses, and eventually, megan and candice. it went: munford to knoxville, where we stayed for a night in a motel 6, then chattanooga, where we went to ruby falls and rock city, then we went to atlanta, where we searched for adult swim headquarters, but ended up getting lost, then we went to jacksonville so nick could jump in the ocean for 30 seconds, once that was finished we drove through the night to ocean springs, hung there for a bit, saw the katrina damage, wow, the hwy 90 bridge is in the water, in pieces, went to mobile, then back to ocean springs, where my cellphone is, came back to memphis via louisiana, drove through hardcore rain, came back to town and went to casa, all in all, it was plenty good fun.

all i got for now, bye

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I have an update. on LJ.

I'll rehash since the last post, i went through female issues which are now resolved, ive learned if a girl's going to date me, she won't succeed unless she likes musicals, keeps late hours, and can deal with eccentricies.

TTU is good, its not home, but i like it

    not a happy camper
ok, so im sitting here at my computer, its 2:32, i have to be up and on my way to marching band in FIVE hours, today i went to this club with some of the trombone players and their girlfriend,s they asked me to come, i shouldve known better, for starters, i was a fifth wheel, then, it was one of those half redneck/half hip hop dance clubs/bars, needless to say, if i wanted to dance, i'dve had to lasso myself my own partner, which i didnt, so we left an hour ago, i was about to go to sleep, when my roomie and three other people come in to play ps2 and watch a movie, needless to say, i will have to stay up all night otherwise if i do go to sleep i will sail straight through our 8:00 rehearsal and most likely our 10:00 gig, rrrrr, i really wish id been able to go home, in fact, this is one of those why didnt i go to memphis or martin moments, oh well, see ya

    rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
so trobaugh's mom died last night, and i wont be able to attend the funeral, we have homecoming, anyhoo, todays been pretty sucky, i miss my friends, ibe got friends here, but the ones im closest to are stevie, who can be a roayl douche, alex, who's currently pussy-whipped, and ray ray, who is, well, um, complicated. now, back home, i have david, julia, staheli, doggett, bradshaw, nick, ma soeur, toodles, becky, so many AMAZING people, why cant memphis be a decent music school? i hope when love's cd out and he plays for the guys in nyc next month they fall in total love eith us, sign us, and back us, so we get to be rich rock stars, then i can get tons of money and put it towards returning home, then i can do tech classes online, while doing performance requirements at my dicretion, im sorry that the LJ is so depressing, call it my anti-xanga, read them both and you get my day, but oh well, anyhoo, i ought to go practice, but instead im going to get on AIM and talk to my friends, later

be it ever so humble, there is NO place like home
so i went home to watch my babies at our contest, i never really bought in to all the munford hype and propaganda, but noe that im out, it hits too close to home, i was so proud watching them, they were the best band ive ever seen, and that ncludes cleveland this year, oakland 03, the boa grand nats tape from 01 and all the coc tapes ive ever seen, i dont know if ive ever been prouder, it was very surreal being back in the liberty bowl, though for the first time, i was there out of uniform, standing there, looking at the pressbox, and my band take the trphy, i really cant explain it all, it was powerful, cinderella (the band not the chick) once sang dont know what you got, till its gone, boy were they right, i wish tech was closer to home, i wish i didnt have to go through all of this to get to my dream, but life just sucks sometimes, anyhoo, i have come to a revelation, i will have to double major in history, b/c the only way marshall will hire more music staff is if they can teach a subject other than music, so now, here is my plan
get out of college as soon as possible
march madison scouts before i turn 21
teach band camps whenever and wherever i can, though munford, brighton, obion co, ripley and siegel are my obvious preferences
get a job teaching history or such at munford
i wish i could transfer, but i want to build munford up as good as possible, and to do that, i need the best education, and tech is the place, it also has given me great insight into middle tn and how the top bands here run things, anyhoo, go to the munford band website and read trobaugh's entry, if it doesnt make youcry, you have no soul whatsoever, im out, later

    the OC
    ok heres my break:
friday: trombone choir gig, then left for cali with alex, fred, and thatch, all tech trombonists, alex and i mooned two girls on I40 btwn jackson and memphis, they gave us shocked looks of fright and drove away, then we caught back up to them and held up signs asking them why they wouldnt play with us and offering them fred's cell number, they just drove off, we thought they were vandy coeds, but i think they really were a mom and daughter, oh well, i drove from fort smith, AR at 1130 to 15 miles from the OK state line at 330, the next day fred was driving through Arizona, AZ's a boring state, nothing but desert, so he got anxious for cali and was going 90 in a 75, the man saw him and caught him, he was a very polite police officer, so very polite, and totally focused on public safety, all about public safety, but, he stuck it to fred, who got a $97 ticket, anyhoo, made it to LA at 730, al drove thru the LA freeway network, he drove with balls, scaring the locals to see an out-of-state driver out-drive them, thus, we had about a 500 ft gap between us and the cars behind us, al also scared thatch, who was terribly frightened as we went through the highway system, got to alex's grandmas house, she took us to a fancy italian place, we ate, went to the beach, hung out in huntington beach area, stayed the night with al's family in lakewood, next morning went to san diego for alex's drum corps banquet, drove by the laguna beach exit to get there, got there, ate, watched corps videos, played ddr, left for tn, as we left cali, we saw several fires, including one that was burning several homes, and a lot of brilliant bolts of lightning, but without thunder, alex told the states to do their worst as we left cali, i really wish he hadnt angered them like that, because, as we got into AZ, i started driving at about 1030 at night in yuma, AZ, i encountered the border control ,they asked me where i was going, i lied to the border patrol, i said memphis, we were going to cookeville, i am a horrible person, 35 miles east of yuma, the car's dash lit up like Christmas, the gages went whichever direction was bad, and the power steering gave out as im on a windy highway through the mountains in the arizona desert a stone's throw from the mexican border, i get off at the first available exit, unfortunately, it was an exit to the middle of nowhere, as in, it was a road that led into the desert, and by desert i mean coyote/rattlesnake/scorpion country, we nursed the car to the nearest rest stop, located in the middle of the mohawk valley, which means its the only civilized spot for miles, we come to find that the main belt in the car had exploded, meaning, we cant get home until we fix the car, so we call a tow truck, as we wait, i go to poop, but in the bathroom are mondo-bugs that had i sat down, im sure they wouldve attacked and beat me up, so i decided to wait for later, the tow truck guy came, the guys name was eric, but b/c were in the middle of nowhere, and we all watched dukes of hazzard, so we called him cooter, not to his face though, were not stupid, so we all offended cooter b/c none of us rode in the cab of his truck with him, we all rode in the car, so he took us on some podunk road thru the desert full of bumps to his shop in tacna arizona, we end up staying in a motel run by a little old lady next to train tracks and a grungy mexican diner, that night, in the hotel, it was hot, so i slept in my boxers, but before i slept, my fott cramped up something awful, so i wreathed in pain, and dring that, i accidentally flashed alex my, well, the nuclear reactor for atomic love, not saying anything more, next morning we wake up to rain, yes rain in the desert, seeing the rain, we remember the driver seat window was open, alex runs out to find the driver seat and one of thacth's pillows very wet, anyhoo, we get the car fixed by grizzled old westerners, and get going, saw lots of saguaro cactus in the desert, we stopped at a tourist trap in AZ entitled "the Thing", the thing was actually a dead indian witch doctor, though they also had a rolls royce that hitler supposedly used and a lot of belts made out of rattlesnakes, we finally made it out of AZ, then in NM, HUGE locusts, like bigger than baby griffin locusts, swarmed the car, and by swarm i mean there were like four, but they hit the windshield and freaked us all out, it was scary, then in texas, alex drove, he got really sleepy so i started reading road signs to him, then we stopped, he had some no-doze caffeine pills and lots of cokes, thus, he got veeeery bouncy and hyper, for about a half hour, but within that half hour, we got stopped by the man, again, this time he stopped us for having the bulb for our license plate light burnt out, no ticket, just bringing awareness, another very polite officer, and totally concerned about public safety, like police officers should, not like Memphis PD, well, we got out of texas, i slept thru AR, got to memphis, and thus, back home, break was amazing, i love california, esp. LA, might work there next summer if i dont do corps, anyhoo, im done, lata
